Summer 2013 – A Great Summer for K-pop!

As a dedicated k-pop fan, one of the hardest things to bear is all of the time in between releases from your favorite k-pop artists. This summer, however, has been completely packed with new releases and long time comebacks, and August promises many more!

To me, it seems as though there are two types of k-pop artists out there; the ones who release new songs, music videos and albums so often that you begin to wish that they would give themselves a little bit more down time, and the groups who space their comebacks agonizing months, and even years apart.

This summer, girl groups 2ne1 and f(x) have had their first major song releases since I Love You and Electric Shock, both of which were released almost exactly one year ago, with Falling in Love and Rum Pum Pum respectively. Brown Eyed Girls have also had their first comeback in quite a while with the recently released music video of Kill Bill. Other long awaited comebacks of the summer include Exo’s Wolf, Junsu’s Incredible, Beast’s Shadow and MBLAQ’s Smoky Girl.

Some of the other releases of the summer have come from the groups that never seem to rest. These include BAP’s Coffee Shop and Hurricane and soon Badman, Girl’s Day’s Female President, 4minute’s Is It Poppin’? and many others.

The comebacks and releases that we have already seen since the official start of the summer in June have been numerous, but the coming month of August promises even more with scheduled comebacks for Exo (Growl), 2ne1 (Do You Love Me?), BAP (Badman) and many many more.

It is hard to say that one year is better than another as far as k-pop songs go, but I have to say that this summer has definitely been one of my favorite so far. What do you think? Is this a good summer for k-pop? What are your favorite releases of the summer?
